Rusty and I kicked it up a notch for this exclusive resort. Sweatpants and Bud Light tee shirt would not suffice for the hoity toity blue blood crowd. We broke out our sunday best polyester pants, flannel button down shirts and our cleanest ball cap that did not advertise a beer product. Oh yeah…. FANCY! Got to blend in I told Rusty. The Callaway Sport Era Golf Shoe were the rental shoes we were forced to wear. We knew we had done it up right. Lots of stares. Wasn’t sure these shoes would go with my red polyester pants but the ladies’ flirtacious giggles and the click of camera phones convinced me “I looked goooood”. Rusty was jealous. He chose his light green polyester pants. He looked stupid. I blended in.

Back to the shoes. Problem number one: The spikes on the bottom were very sharp. Bottom of the golf cart was rubber. Foot got pinned to the accelerator and the floor. It was a runaway cart. Figured I would just head for the sand trap and slow down there. Rusty panicked and bailed out. Wimp. I hit the sand trap like a runaway semi. The only thing missing was the Dukes of Hazzard yelling Yee-Haw. There was sand everywhere. The impact dislodged my shoe. Good thing, my other option was the water pond. Hate to get my best clothes wet.

2 observations at this point:

Why is golf called a sport? There is no goalie on the hole. No camoflaged guy hiding in ambush for when you have to go in the rough. I’m just sayin, there may be ways to man up this sport a little.

Golfers who have to wait on you can get nasty. Use a lot of profanity. They hurt Rusty’s feelings something awful. We got them back though… filled the little hole on the 7th green with urine. Losers.

Rusty snagged my pants leg with his shoe getting in the cart. Ripped my red polys. Think he did it on purpose so I kicked him in the rear. The spikes drew blood. It was on then. Full blown kick fight. Two unarmed gladiators with spiked shoes squaring off. 5 minutes later, clothes in tatters and bleeding, it was over. These shoes are awesome… Clothes, skin, hair all cleaned off easily just by stepping in a water pond. Big bonus, I wanted my 10 dollar deposit back.

The Callaway Sport Era will also make you faster. Rabbit jumped out of the bushes on 17 and Rusty’s instincts took over. He grabbed a 7 iron and blazed off in pursuit. Never seen Rusty move that fast. Quite a sight. Big ole hillbilly with a beer gut, full sprint, swinging a 7 iron like Babe Ruth with his tattered clothes drifting behind him like superman’s cape. Rabbit got away. Just before he ducked into his hole I thought I saw him turn around and smile at the scene. Brought a tear to my eye. Rusty should have thrown the shoe at him.

Bottom line:

These shoes are a 10 out of 10. Stylish, goes with any outfit. Kick butt if needed, clean off easy, and comfortable – even when wet and sand in them.

They kept our deposit on the shoes and nobody wanted to touch them when we put them on the counter. They used a stick to move them. We owe $624 for cart repair. They took our picture and said we were now “banned” from returning. The security escort to the parking lot was a bit much though.

Great shoes! Our experience was greatly enhanced because of them. We highly recommend these. You won’t be disappointed.
